On February 18, the kick-off meeting for the process package and design work of the PGA project, which is part of Inner Mongolia Zhuozheng’s large-scale coal chemical complex with a total investment of 59 billion yuan, was held. This project aims at optimizing the production processes for methanol and acetic acid in order to manufacture high-end chemicals and new materials through comprehensive utilization. Zhang Jianjun, Executive Director and Manager of Zhuo Zheng Company, Zhu Xuan, General Manager of China Kunlun Engineering Company, Qian Hongyi, General Manager of Shanghai Pu Jing Company, as well as the relevant department heads attended the meeting. The experts and technicians present conducted in-depth discussions on optimizing resource allocation, improving the overall efficiency of projects, as well as energy conservation and consumption reduction, and provided a detailed analysis of the design constraints associated with the equipment. Agreement was reached on aspects such as the depth of project design, the timely delivery of process packages, and design coordination procedures; recommendations were provided to ensure the smooth progress of the project’s design, so that the process packages are delivered in accordance with the design requirements and the design is completed on schedule. The project of Inner Mongolia Zhuozheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., which focuses on the optimized deep processing and comprehensive utilization of methanol and acetic acid to produce high-end chemicals and new materials, is located in the Nalinhe Industrial Park of the Sulihe Economic Development Zone in Wushen Banner. With a total investment of 59 billion yuan, this project produces 19 types of products, including methanol, acetic acid, vinyl acetate (VAC), ethanol, formaldehyde, polyoxymethylene (POM), polyglycolic acid (PGA), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), dimethyl ether, methyl acetate, mixed alcohols, polyglycolic acid oligomers, sulfur, coal tar, upgraded coal, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha, and special diesel. Through further processes such as chain extension, chain supplementation, chain stabilization, and chain strengthening, it is possible to produce more than 30 types of products, thereby enabling the development of coal chemical projects in a manner that features higher sophistication, greater diversity, and lower carbon emissions. The project involves the construction of a 3 million tons per year raw coal pretreatment facility, a 1 million tons per year methanol plant, a 500,000 tons per year acetic acid plant, a 600,000 tons per year ethanol plant, a 350,000 tons per year methyl glycolate (MG) plant, a 200,000 tons per year polyglycolic acid (PGA) plant, a 60,000 tons per year polyoxymethylene (POM) plant, as well as various supporting infrastructure and auxiliary facilities.
