The civil construction work for Guangxi Huayi’s 320,000 tons per year butyl octanol production facility has been completed. Recently, at the construction site of the company’s third-phase project, cranes were in operation, machines were humming, whistles could be heard, and workers were busy working hard; structural elements were being erected one after another, and good news kept coming in... On March 27th, the butyl octanol production unit of Guangxi Huayi New Materials’ 320,000 tons per year butyl octanol and acrylate production project completed its civil construction tasks ahead of schedule, passed strict inspections, and successfully entered the phase of handover and safety checks. At the safety ceremony, Chen Jianguo, the company’s chief engineer, spoke on behalf of the project owner to acknowledge the hard work of all parties involved. He expressed the hope that the project team would continue to make use of the prime construction period in spring, strive to achieve the goals of \"zero accidents in terms of safety and zero defects in terms of quality,\" ensure high standards for project quality, strengthen safety management in areas where multiple tasks are carried out simultaneously, and accelerate key operations such as the installation of steel structures, equipment lifting, and process piping, in order to fully meet the objectives of the next phase. That same afternoon, with the pouring of the final batch of concrete completed, the core supporting facilities for the company’s 20,000 tons per year polymerization inhibitor project (Phase 1) – namely, Cabinet Room No. 8 and the main structure of Substation No. 8 – were successfully completed, marking a milestone achievement in the project’s construction. Next, the project team for Phase 3 of the company will, with the determination to see things through to the end, coordinate efforts in managing safety, quality, and progress, and carry out subsequent work with greater efficiency and higher quality, so as to ensure that the project is completed and put into operation on time and to high standards, thereby contributing to the development of the regional high-end chemical and new material industry. On March 18, with the pouring of the final batch of concrete, an important milestone was reached in the auxiliary systems project for the butanone and butanol serta esters facility at Guangxi Hua Yi New Materials Company’s Phase III project: the construction of three key structures – the 10# instrument cabinet room, the 10# substation, and the refrigeration station – was completed, marking significant progress in the project’s development. The three buildings that have reached their completion stage are important components of the utility systems, responsible for providing power supply, instrument control, cryogenic circulation, and other essential functions for the entire project.
The project covers an area of approximately 139 mu and includes a plant area as well as product storage tanks. Full civil construction work is expected to begin in January 2025, with completion planned for the first half of 2026. The project construction includes the establishment of a butyl octanol plant with an annual production capacity of 320,000 tons (including 160,000 tons of n-butyl alcohol and 160,000 tons of isobutyl alcohol), as well as an isooctyl acrylate plant with an annual production capacity of 80,000 tons. In addition, necessary utility and auxiliary facilities such as intermediate storage tanks, product storage tanks, substation stations, cabinet rooms, refrigeration plants, and incinerators will also be provided. It is reported that the total investment in this project for producing 320,000 tons per year of butyl octanol and acrylates amounts to nearly 1.998 billion yuan. It constitutes a key part of the third phase of Hua Yi Qinzhou Chemical New Materials Integrated Base, with the aim of expanding the range of downstream products derived from olefins and strengthening the industrial chain. By making full use of the integrated advantages and industrial chain synergies of the Qinzhou facility, this project will further expand the production capacity of butyl octanol and acrylates downstream of propylene, diversify the product range, enhance overall market competitiveness, and generate significant economic benefits. In addition, the total planned investment for Phase 3 of the Huayi Qinzhou Chemical New Materials Integration Base amounts to around 55 billion yuan. With methanol-to-olefins as its core technology, it focuses on **high-end new material sectors that require strong support, such as downstream olefin-based materials like EVA, biodegradable materials, polyurethane materials, polycarbonates, and high-performance engineering plastics like nylon 66. This will further promote the diversification and differentiation of downstream olefin products at Huayi Qinzhou Base, thereby enhancing the overall competitiveness of the industrial chain.
