On March 21, the two turbines used in the compressors for ammonia synthesis at the Gansu Energy and Chemical Jinchang Coal Chemical Project, which was constructed through EPC contracting by China Five Rings Engineering Corporation under China National Chemical Corporation, were successfully started up in just one attempt, nearly 1 month ahead of the originally planned commissioning date. Completing the commissioning of two steam turbines in one day not only established the \"Jinchang Speed\", enabling the achievement of key annual targets ahead of schedule and securing a successful start for the testing activities in 2025, but it also marked the entry of the project into its critical pre-commissioning phase. By 2025, the Gansu Energy and Chemical Jinchang project will enter its critical finalization phase. Faced with the severe cold in the northwest over nearly 4 months, the project team overcame difficulties and carefully planned the construction process, scheduling critical tasks during the periods when temperatures were higher during the day. At the same time, they implemented anti-freezing and insulation measures to ensure the smooth progress of key milestones. With the support of the company’s leadership, the project team demonstrated strong cohesion and combat effectiveness. The design team worked closely together with the on-site construction managers and operation supervisors, working overtime to carry out tasks focused on the critical phase of compressor testing. Through daily meetings dedicated to testing activities, addressing the issues related to equipment and pipelines that could affect compressor testing, working overtime to ensure proper electrical and instrumentation adjustments, and efficiently carrying out high-pressure steam purging and equipment testing, it was possible to create the necessary conditions for the turbines of the syngas compressor and ammonia compressor to start operating. This laid a solid foundation for the successful first start-up of these two pieces of equipment. Next, the Jinchang project will continue to carry out a series of important commissioning activities. The project team will maintain a determined work attitude and high level of enthusiasm to ensure that the testing activities proceed safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
