The 60,000-ton-per-year PBAT/PBS production project in Chongqing is set to begin trial operations soon. Recently, the 60,000-ton-per-year polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT)/polybutylene succinate (PBS) production facility in the Baitao Industrial Park of Chongqing has completed its mechanical construction, and it will be ready for trial operations within this month. The total investment in this project is 334 million yuan, and the construction scope includes building a facility capable of producing 60,000 tons per year of fully biodegradable PBAT/PBS materials, along with the necessary supporting facilities. To date, the overall project progress rate is 95%, and it will be ready for trial operation this month, with production expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025. It is understood that this project uses 1,4-butanediol (BDO), terephthalic acid (PTA), adipic acid (AA), succinic acid (SA) and other materials as primary raw materials to flexibly produce PBAT, PBS, and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). The main product, PBAT, is widely used in fields such as packaging, textiles, agriculture, and healthcare. As an environmentally friendly material with excellent properties, it can effectively help alleviate the problem of \"white pollution\".
