Jiangsu Wanwei’s 200,000-ton annual production capacity polyvinyl alcohol resin project kicks off

On January 16, the project in Jiangsu Wanwei to produce 200,000 tons per year of vinyl alcohol resin capable of producing polyethylene as well as related facilities, was launched in the Binhai Coastal Industrial Park. Anhui Wanwei Group is a leading enterprise in the domestic polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and vinylon industries. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Wanwei High-Tech, it has projects in Binhai County for the production of PVA and related downstream products on a scale of over 10 billion yuan; once all these projects are operational, they are expected to generate annual sales of around 10 billion yuan. The main product, polyvinyl alcohol, is a water-soluble polymer material with good insulation properties, film-forming capabilities, and gas barrier properties. It is widely used in fields such as new energy vehicles, packaging, construction, and pharmaceuticals. On August 16, Wanwei High-Tech issued a announcement stating its intention to invest in the construction of a production facility for ethylene-based polyvinyl alcohol resin in the Binhai Coastal Industrial Park. The total investment in the base’s development is approximately 10 billion yuan, covering an area of about 1,000 mu. The base will be constructed in two phases: Phase 1 requires an investment of around 3.6 billion yuan, and the projects to be carried out include the production of 360,000 tons per year of vinyl acetate and 200,000 tons per year of polyvinyl alcohol resin. The investment for the second-phase project is approximately 6.4 billion yuan. The construction projects include facilities for producing 400,000 tons per year of vinyl acetate, 200,000 tons per year of polyvinyl alcohol resin, as well as downstream products derived from PVA such as VAE emulsions, redispersible latex powders, PVB resin, and PVB films.
