According to Sinochem News, on December 13, the “First National Conference on Salt Resources and Environment” was held in Beijing. It was organized by the Geological Society of China, with the support of the Professional Committee on Salt Resources and Environment and the China Inorganic Salt Industry Association among other organizations. The conference focused on the exploration, development, and utilization of inorganic salt resources in salt lakes, aiming to promote interdisciplinary exchanges and industrial cooperation in the field of salt resources. Wang Xiaofeng, president of the China Inorganic Salt Industry Association, noted that the inorganic salt resources found in salt lakes are strategic mineral resources that underpin the development of modern industry and agriculture. At present, the global industrial and supply chain landscape is undergoing profound changes, and China is in a critical period of comprehensively building a modern socialist society; the strategic importance of ensuring food security and energy and resource security is greater than ever before. “In recent years, our country has made a series of significant breakthroughs in the exploration of potassium resources and their development abroad; these achievements are worthy of recognition, yet the mission calls for continued efforts. ”Wang Xiaofeng emphasized, \"Promoting the high-quality and sustainable development and utilization of salt resources, as well as accelerating the establishment of world-class salt lake industry bases, is a contemporary responsibility that our industry must share together.\" ”Regarding the future development of the industry, Wang Xiaofeng outlined three key tasks: First, it is necessary to adhere to innovation-driven development in order to break through in key core technologies. To meet development needs, efforts are being made to strengthen platform construction and industry-university-research collaboration, with a focus on overcoming key technologies such as the utilization of salt lake resources, extraction of deep brines, development of low-grade resources, and separation of associated elements, in order to achieve self-sufficiency and control in key areas. Secondly, it is necessary to uphold the principle of giving priority to ecology and establish a solid foundation for green development. Integrate the concept that \"lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets\" throughout the entire process of resource development, promote energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures, as well as clean production and recycling technologies, strengthen ecological restoration, and drive the high-end, intelligent, and green development of industries. Third, it is necessary to strengthen systematic thinking and establish a new pattern of coordinated development. Strengthen top-level planning to promote the staged development and industrial integration of resources such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, and lithium; establish industrial clusters in areas with resource advantages; coordinate domestic and international resource markets; foster collaborative innovation within industry chains; and build a modern industrial system.
