Mechanical completion of Phase II coal gasification Project B at China Coal Shaanxi Energy

On May 11, 2026, Phase II of the coal chemical project at China Coal Shaanxi Energy achieved mechanical completion for Bid Section B of its gasification unit. This section includes the coal grinding plant, gasification fire pump station, grinding tank, slurry feeding system, third heat exchange station, gasification substation, and gasification cabinet room. The project officially commenced in July 2024. Previously, various units at the China Coal Yulin Coal Deep Processing Base, such as those for gasification, purification, sulfur recovery, polypropylene production, and other power transformation facilities, have been supplied with electricity and are gradually entering the commissioning phase. The China Coal Yulin Coal Deep Processing Base project uses coal as raw material and AP (GE) coal slurry pressurized gasification to produce 2.2 million tons per year of methanol, which is further processed to yield 750,000 tons per year of olefins. In addition, 166,000 tons per year of liquid propylene is obtained from existing facilities, resulting in an ultimate production of 350,000 tons per year of polyethylene and 550,000 tons per year of polypropylene. At the same time, the existing phase of the project will be optimized and upgraded to build a 250,000-ton/year LDPE/EVA chain extension and enhancement facility along with supporting infrastructure.
