Jiangsu Supor invests 4.77 billion yuan to build two high-end chemical projects

In 2026, during the 25th National “Safety Production Month”, everyone is encouraged to prioritize safety and be capable of responding to emergencies; efforts will also be made to identify and rectify potential risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- On May 27, Jiangsu Sopo announced its plan to issue A-shares to specified investors in 2026. It intends to issue shares to no more than 35 investors, with the total funds raised not exceeding 1.6 billion yuan. After deducting issuance expenses, these funds will be entirely allocated to the Vinyl Acetate and EVA Integrated Project (Phase I) as well as the 200,000-ton/year Dimethyl Carbonate Project. According to the Feasibility Analysis Report on the Use of Funds Raised, the 1.6 billion yuan in funds raised will be allocated specifically to two projects aimed at expanding the industrial chain. Of this amount, 900 million yuan will be invested in the vinyl acetate and EVA integration project (Phase 1), while 700 million yuan will be used for the 200,000 tons per year dimethyl carbonate production project. The total investment in these two projects amounts to 4.77 billion yuan, with the remaining amount to be covered by the company itself. In terms of the specific project planning, the vinyl acetate and EVA integrated project (Phase 1) will be carried out by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jiangsu Supor New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. The construction period is 3 years, and the construction scope includes a vinyl acetate production facility with an annual capacity of 330,000 tons, a sulfuric acid production facility with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, and an air separation unit with a capacity of 15,000 Nm³/h. Unlike the mainstream acetylene-based production process used in China, this project adopts the ethylene-oxygen-acetic acid gas-phase synthesis process (ethylene method) provided by DuPont Corporation of the United States. Compared to the acetylene method, it offers key advantages such as lower production costs, reduced emissions of waste substances, and higher product quality, enabling the direct production of vinyl acetate that meets the demands of the high-end market. To date, this project has completed all preliminary approval procedures such as registration and environmental impact assessment; no additional land is required. It has been included in Jiangsu Province’s list of major projects for 2026, and enjoys policy support from the local government. Another key project is the 200,000-ton/year dimethyl carbonate plant, which will be implemented directly by Jiangsu Supor. The construction period will also be 3 years, with a planned production capacity of 100,000 tons each for industrial-grade and electronic-grade dimethyl carbonate. The gas-phase oxidation carbonylation process developed by Ube Industries Ltd. of Japan will be used in this plant’s operation. It is worth noting that this project was first proposed in 2022, with an initial planned total investment of 2.181 billion yuan. After optimizing the industrial layout, it became possible to utilize the company’s existing gasification facilities, eliminating the need for additional infrastructure; as a result, the overall investment amount was reduced by approximately 640 million yuan, to 1.544 billion yuan, which significantly improved the project’s economic viability. As of May 2026, the project has completed the procurement of process packages and preliminary design, and obtained all necessary prior approvals including energy assessment, environmental impact assessment, safety assessment, planning permits, and construction permits for the cabinet room, thereby meeting the conditions for starting construction. Both projects utilize advanced, globally proven technologies, and they integrate seamlessly with the company’s existing production system, laying a solid foundation for their stable operation once implemented.
