The annual natural gas processing capacity of this project is 2.5 billion cubic meters. Following approval at a high-level meeting chaired by Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov, the project officially entered the construction phase. Pursuant to a decision by the Kazakh government, a consortium composed of the Kazakhstan branch of China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. and China Fifth Ring Engineering Co., Ltd. has been selected as the EPC general contractor for this facility. Both companies are subsidiaries of China National Chemical Engineering Corporation. This project is regarded as a strategic initiative for Kazakhstan’s gas industry, and it receives **special attention and oversight from the leadership. The launch of this project marks an important step for the country in expanding natural gas production and enhancing energy security. Reportedly, currently, another natural gas processing plant at the Kashagan field with an annual processing capacity of 1 billion cubic meters is under construction. According to official data, the Kashagan oil field is a world-class super-large oil field, with recoverable oil reserves of approximately 9 billion to 13 billion barrels (equivalent to 1 billion to 2 billion tons). The reservoir is located in a shallow offshore area 80 kilometers away from the city of Atyrau, with the reservoir rock found at a depth of over 4 kilometers (approximately 4,200 meters) underground.
