This post was last edited by *lihuagong on 2015-7-3 10:02. Our company currently has a water heating room that generates approximately 5–8 cubic meters of condensate water per day. We now want to recycle this water for use as hot water in other processes during winter. There is currently a condensate drain pipe, and all that’s needed is to reuse the water coming out of this pipe. My idea is to build a reservoir; when hot water is needed, it can be pumped out using a pump, and when not in use, it can serve as supplementary water for the boiler used to generate steam. So the question arises: in winter, when hot water is used only once or twice a day, the condensate stays in the storage tank for an extended period of time – how can effective insulation be achieved? Do any of you have any good suggestions or other feasible methods for recycling this water (for use as hot water)? I would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thank you.
Use a metal water tank with an external heating coil for external insulation. In winter, hot water is circulated in the coil to maintain warmth.
When hot water is needed in winter, steam can be directly directed into the storage tank to heat it, with the temperature adjusted to the desired level
Have you heard of something called a “condensate recovery unit”? Installing one of these will do the trick. Pumps are not even needed. Powered by steam.
The condensate water emitted by the steam-generating equipment is collected through overhead or trench pipes and returned to a sealed collection tank. Then, a high-temperature condensate water recycling system is used to feed softened water at temperatures above 100°C directly into the boiler, thus forming a closed circulation system from steam supply to recycling.
The water volume is not very large, so investing in methods such as insulated steam heat recovery may not be cost-effective; it could be considered for use as distilled water in a laboratory or similar purposes

Metal water tank for the heating coil? Is it something like a rapid heater inside the water tank, that heats up when powered? I haven’t done it before and don’t understand; please explain in more detail. Thank you.
Is it troublesome to use steam from a steam pipeline for heating? Will this affect the pressure in the original steam pipeline?
I’ve heard of it, but it seems to be used for direct connection to gas-powered equipment. I already have a condensate water outlet pipe; can I still use it? Could you explain it in more detail? Thank you.
