The alkaline solution system in the liquefied gas catalyst always experiences foaming of the alkaline solution – what is the reason?
The cause of foaming is likely due to hydrogen sulfide present in the liquefied gas; if the desulfurization process is effective, this should not happen. If it’s just a single type of thiol, then foaming shouldn’t occur either. Get a LPG analysis before alkali washing.

There are olefins in liquefied gas; olefins, oxygen, and alkalis combine to form complex sodium-containing organic compounds that act as surfactants
This view is problematic; there cannot be oxygen in liquefied gas, as that would be extremely dangerous. Normal alkaline solution is relatively clean and does not produce foaming. The most likely cause is the presence of amine in the alkaline solution system; since amine is inherently dirty, it causes foaming. If the alkaline solution foams severely, it can lead to significant water content in the liquefied gas, which in turn can affect the water content in the propylene product.
