After the pump started operating, the pressure of nitrogen in the 53A system dropped rapidly; the medium entered the system. What went wrong and how can it be fixed?
The inner seal might be leaking, so the buffer level has decreased
Insufficient nitrogen pressure results in the pressure of the isolation fluid being lower than that of the medium to be isolated, causing the medium to enter the liquid storage tank through the inner seal; this indicates that 1. the leakage rate from the inner seal is above the acceptable level. 2. There are leaks in the nitrogen pipeline or the pressure of the gas source itself is unstable. Solutions: 1. Replace with a new seal; 2. Locate and fix the leak in the nitrogen pipeline
After replacing the mechanical seal, do not set the nitrogen pressure too high; it should generally be 0.5 to 1.5 kilograms higher than the pump inlet pressure.
According to the poster, there are two issues: 1. The nitrogen pressure has dropped, which could be due to a leak in the nitrogen pipeline, a leakage in the external seal, or insufficient pressure from the nitrogen supply source; 2. The medium entering the sealing system is caused by a leak in the internal seal.
First of all, it’s certain that the mechanical seal is leaking. I would like to ask what pressure is applied with 53A; generally, it should be 1–2 kilograms higher than the pressure in the sealing chamber. It shouldn’t be too high, otherwise the seal can be easily damaged due to the reverse force
