Since the laboratory is a closed room, inadequate ventilation can have a serious impact on the health of the laboratory staff due to the evaporation of chemicals. How do you handle ventilation in the laboratory? A new air handling system? How often should ventilation take place?
We use a fresh-air central air conditioning system, which is separate from other areas. The exhaust ventilation includes exhaust hoods and fume hoods dedicated to the testing equipment, as well as exhaust ventilation for the entire laboratory area. The required number of air changes is 8-12 times per hour.
We use ventilated kitchens and exhaust fans, which are turned on as soon as we start working...........
Central air conditioning system – individual areas
This is my independent analysis lab, equipped with a fume hood and an explosion-proof exhaust fan.
You can check the requirements in the \"SHT 3103-2009 Code for Design of Laboratory Facilities in Petrochemical Plants\".
The specifications state that a make-up air system should be installed in the central laboratory (no requirement for fresh air). The ventilation rate in analysis rooms where toxic and harmful gases are generated should be no less than 7 times per hour. Is this requirement somewhat too low?
