Hello, experts. I need automated control for sodium chlorate as before. Since liquid chlorine is involved, an emergency shut-off valve needs to be added, but I’m not sure where it should be installed I hope everyone can offer some suggestions. Regarding the process here: a 1-ton liquid chlorine cylinder is connected to copper pipes (with the valve on the liquid chlorine cylinder being manually controlled) – the valve uses the same model as that on the liquid chlorine cylinder – followed by DN15 carbon steel pipes, a vaporizer, a chlorine buffer tank, and then the chlorine enters the reaction vessel. Where would be the best place to install an emergency shut-off valve?
In my situation, is it necessary to install an emergency shut-off? Why?
An emergency shut-off valve is installed on the liquid pipeline before entering the vaporizer, and it is interlocked with the system pressure. In fact, pipes this thin are no longer considered pressure pipes, so installing a shut-off valve is not very meaningful. I’ve looked at the opinions from safety supervision agencies and experts across various regions. It is recommended that you first discuss this with the design institute to determine whether it is necessary, and then consult the Hazardous Chemicals Department of the safety supervision agency. If installation is necessary, then install it on the liquid-phase pipeline before entering the carburetor. Personal opinion, for reference only. The design I created is done in this way; it’s just that my scale is larger (10 tons per hour), but essentially there’s no difference.
Is the vaporizer indoor or outdoor? Are there any special requirements?
Personally, I think an emergency shut-off valve should be installed on the pipeline that leads from the buffer tank to the reactor
