Do you think device management is important? With the increasing scale of socialized mass production, equipment management is extremely important. Does your company place importance on equipment management? I would say that our company places a moderate to high level of emphasis on equipment management, but it’s not the highest. As someone involved in equipment management, what are your thoughts on this industry? I like device management; it gives people a sense of achievement and is very meaningful to society. Do you think changing jobs is appropriate? When changing jobs, it mainly depends on the boss; if the boss has vision and can recognize the significance and importance of the equipment, as well as provide the equipment staff with opportunities to learn and showcase their talents ； Being able to care about the growth of equipment staff, I think changing jobs is a good idea. Do you think device management is important? In my opinion, 50% of the success of a production line depends on the equipment, 30% on operation, and 20% on management; of course, equipment management is very important. Does your company place importance on equipment management? Our company doesn’t place much emphasis on equipment management; the boss is more concerned about production volume. As someone who works in equipment management, what’s your opinion on this industry? I like device management; it seems that new problems arise every day, which poses a challenge for me and pushes me to keep learning. Do you think changing jobs is appropriate? Changing jobs depends on the individual; those who want to learn* won’t change jobs easily ； To achieve better development, one can choose to change jobs ； The majority of people change jobs for the sake of a higher salary.

Do you think device management is important? It is very important. The equipment in a factory is like the various organs of a human body; only when these organs function properly can a person maintain good health and ensure the coordinated operation of all bodily functions. Does your company place importance on equipment management? Pay attention. But it ranks after production and safety. As someone involved in equipment management, what are your thoughts on this industry? Current equipment management still largely relies on the efforts of equipment managers, and there is still a long way to go before achieving the goal of comprehensive management involving all staff involved with the equipment. Do you think changing jobs is appropriate? I think it’s great. On the one hand, as equipment managers, it is required to have a very broad range of knowledge, which makes it easy to change careers. Secondly, for domestic enterprises, production remains the main focus at present, and those engaged in production still lack certain knowledge and skills regarding equipment and equipment management. It would be ideal if they could shift to production management, as this would help resolve the conflicts between production and equipment, improve the level of total equipment management, and ensure the long-term operation of equipment and installations.

Equipment is the fundamental foundation for a company’s production. The quality of the equipment not only affects production volume but also product quality, as well as the safety of the operators; therefore, equipment management is very important. The company places considerable emphasis on equipment management, but the compensation for equipment managers and maintenance staff is lower than that of frontline employees; from this perspective, it can be said that enough emphasis is not placed on this area, which has also led some equipment managers to leave for other jobs. Changing jobs depends on the circumstances; if there is a better opportunity, one should take it, as this allows one to showcase their abilities better and also improves the quality of life.

It is very important to know how to manage equipment; what matters most for managers is whether to focus on maintaining the equipment or repairing it, and there is a huge difference between the two.

I would like to share my own views as well: 1. Equipment management is a fundamental aspect of management; if this aspect is handled properly, it can lead to significant benefits in terms of energy conservation, emission reduction, and cost cutting. Therefore, it is essential for companies to pay attention to equipment management. However, many companies in China do not give enough importance to this area. Many people think that equipment management simply involves carrying out repairs, and if that doesn’t work, there are always the manufacturers available. As equipment maintenance workers, one only needs to know how to tighten bolts, so it is believed that men are sufficient for these roles. This mindset has contributed to the poor development of equipment management in China, preventing the implementation of effective management methods such as regular inspections and TPM. Even when such methods are adopted, they often fail to achieve the desired results； 2. The current situation in our company is that there is no proper attention paid to equipment management; it’s already difficult to find a vibration analyzer these days, let alone establish an organizational structure for this purpose. The organizational structure is tied to production processes, and at present our company combines the functions of production, equipment management, and technology under one entity. The role of the equipment management department is to oversee maintenance activities in the various factories. Any good measures or methods need to be submitted by the factories, and once issues arise, the factories provide their suggestions. The equipment department then synthesizes these suggestions and issues them as company policies. Good practices such as sealing leaks while the system is still under pressure or modern equipment management approaches simply do not work in our company ； 3. There is still great potential in equipment management. The situation in China as mentioned above means that for equipment maintenance, outsourcing can be an option; this gives those in charge of equipment management significant opportunities to showcase their skills. Establishing an equipment management company is a good idea – setting up such a company in a particular region and gradually expanding its services to various industries can lead to the creation of a professional company specializing in maintenance and equipment management. The market prospects for this approach seem promising ； 4. I believe that changing jobs is, on the one hand, a way to test one’s own abilities, and on the other hand, it is a process of continuous learning. Given the current circumstances, it’s impossible to gain familiarity with a company and improve one’s skills there; so why not change jobs? But before changing jobs, one needs to understand oneself thoroughly: what do I know? What am I good at? What is still missing in my knowledge? Before changing jobs, it’s essential to make all the necessary preparations; otherwise, you’ll end up in a situation where you only have a superficial understanding of something – knowing the basics but not delving into the details. As a chemical maintenance company, its technical capabilities severely limit its ability to manage equipment effectively; it is unable to pay sufficient attention to this aspect despite wanting to. As someone involved in equipment management, what are your thoughts on this industry? This industry requires employees to have a certain level of education, technical skills, and physical fitness. However, due to the dirty and strenuous nature of the work as well as low pay, only relatively less qualified workers can be hired, which results in inadequate maintenance of the equipment. Do you think changing jobs is appropriate? A good bird chooses its own tree to perch on; it is only natural for those who have reached a certain level of competence in their careers to change jobs, after all, the living pressures in China are extremely high. It’s not that I don’t want to build a relationship with the company; it’s just that I still need to support my family. However, the prerequisite for choosing where to settle is whether you are a \"good bird,\" so I still need to study hard* and strive to improve my professional skills as soon as possible.

Whether to change jobs or not depends on one’s abilities

Equipment management is definitely very important. But these days, few equipment managers have a deep understanding of equipment; I think this is related to practical operational experience. Many university graduates these days have never been involved in the inspection and maintenance of equipment, so they have little experience in this area. Take our company as an example: equipment engineers are mainly responsible for making phone calls. When operators detect problems with the equipment, they report them to the engineers, who then contact the maintenance staff to go to the site and carry out repairs. There’s basically no role for equipment engineers in this process.

Do you think device management is important? Equipment is an important tool for production, and equipment management forms the basis of management. It is obvious that equipment management is extremely crucial; it serves as a benchmark that reflects the quality of management. Without paying attention to equipment management, talk of effective management is meaningless! Does your company place importance on equipment management? Many companies focus on output, quality, and efficiency, yet they overlook the importance of equipment management. People with insight have recognized this issue, and advanced concepts of equipment management such as TPM are gradually being adopted by some companies. Our company has begun to pay attention to this issue and is gradually placing more emphasis on equipment management. As someone involved in equipment management, what are your thoughts on this industry? As a equipment manager, one must not underestimate the importance of one’s role. Although equipment management serves merely as a stepping stone in the production process, and efforts made in this area may not yield immediate results, its significance can only be recognized through long-term commitment. Do you think changing jobs is appropriate? There is nothing wrong with changing jobs; it’s only natural to do what you enjoy, provided that you are ready for it Don’t regret it.
