In industry, when is a flash tower used and when is a flash vessel used? Multiple flash tanks are used in Aspen simulations; what does this correspond to in real-world situations?
The flash towers I’ve seen have multiple corrugated baffles, which are used to provide a flashing area; the flash vessel is simply a pipe that leads into it.
Could multiple flash tanks be used to separate different phases and different media? In units such as hydrogenation plants, where separation of gas, oil, and water occurs, this is a relevant issue
There are only gas and liquid phases; it’s probably just for purification purposes

In single-pole flashing, the flashing area is at the gas-liquid contact surface; in a tower, if feeding occurs at the top, flashing continues as the material flows down along the tray levels, resulting in an increased area and better performance compared to a tank

It’s the same! It’s a separation that happens once! It’s at the theoretical level! It’s just called differently!
The flash tower has reflux and gas-liquid exchange, while the flash vessel has no reflux and no gas-liquid exchange. In my opinion, a flash drum is generally used when there are many solid impurities, while a flash tower is used when there are few solid impurities
I think it’s the same; it’s just the difference between a jar and a tower!
