Previously, I visited several MTP companies in Dongying, Shandong. It seems that their capacity is 300,000 tons of methanol per year to produce 80,000 tons of ethylene, and 400,000 tons of methanol per year to produce 100,000 tons of ethylene. The by-products include LPG and light aromatics, with the light aromatics being mainly used for oil blending. I also heard that in addition to methanol, naphtha is used as a feedstock. I would like to ask the experienced members of this forum – is there anyone who is familiar with domestic MTP technology? What is the typical scale of device design in such cases? What are the types of products and raw materials, and what are their approximate annual production volumes and consumption levels? Thank you! The FMTP technology developed by Professor Jin Yong of Tsinghua University has already undergone pilot-scale testing. The industrial-scale facility is currently under construction in Huating, Gansu. The fluidized-bed propylene production plant uses less energy and achieves higher yields than Lurgi’s MTP technology; however, the actual performance will have to be determined through practical operation tests

MTP isn’t fun. High energy consumption, equipment prone to damage, and significant environmental pressure. So many, so many questions. The main issue is that it’s not profitable now, and there’s no hope for improvement in the future.
