Is it necessary to consider a corrosion margin for the internal components of equipment exposed to highly corrosive media? How to consider it? For example, in a Hg tower, 4 mm is considered for corrosion.
If the internal components are replaceable, it is generally not necessary to account for such a large corrosion allowance; they can be replaced during regular inspections
It is necessary to take corrosion allowance into account, but an appropriate material should be chosen to keep the corrosion allowance as small as possible; otherwise, if the corrosion allowance is too large, the thickness of the internal components will become excessive, making manufacturing and installation difficult
For internal components such as support rings that are welded to the tower wall, a corrosion allowance must be taken into account; if carbon steel is used, double-sided corrosion also needs to be considered.
If double-sided corrosion is considered, how should it be taken into account? Should we consider the housing?
