What is the main function of the manhole at this location?
Reactors and the bottom of towers generally have discharge ports and pipelines, as well as feeding or shut-off valves. Access to the lower part of the skirt base is required through an access hatch for inspection or operation.
During maintenance, it is possible to enter the tower to inspect and repair its internal components.
The openings in the skirt used for personnel to enter and exit should be called inspection holes; their purpose is to allow inspection and maintenance of the interior of the skirt during equipment operation and maintenance.
An inspection hole is provided on the container skirt; it is inaccurate to refer to it as a manhole.
