This post was last edited by leo_0088 on 2015-7-27 22:56. What are the respective purposes of intermittent/continuous blowdown in the drum of the BT unit in petrochemical processes? The issue might be quite basic; please forgive me! :L
The standard operating procedures explain it as follows: intermittent discharge is used to remove any impurities that may be present inside; the valve is opened wide for this purpose. Continuous discharge, on the other hand, takes into account the quality of the water – by discharging some of it, the salt content can be reduced, thereby improving the water quality.
Continuous discharge: The purpose is to remove the salts contained in the boiler water as well as the suspended particles on the water surface inside the drum； Regular blowdown: The purpose is to remove the deposits from inside the lower header in order to improve the quality of the boiler water.
