Why is the H2S content in the process gas at the outlets of the two gasification furnaces different? (Exxon) What other factors are there besides the impact of sulfur in coal?
For identical vaporization furnaces, it is normal for the composition at the outlet to vary; as long as such variations are within the normal range due to process fluctuations

The sulfur content of the raw coal is definitely the same, but the reason for the difference in sulfur content at the outlet of the two furnaces is that the sulfur generated during coal slurry gasification goes to two places: one is carried into the system along with the syngas, and the other is emitted as flash vapor. The amount of flash vapor is directly related to the amount of black water discharged; therefore, even though both furnaces use the same coal and may have the same coal feeding rate and pressure, the amount of black water discharged can vary, which means that the sulfur content in the syngas will inevitably differ.
