I saw the solution provided by the association for this problem; why is only 1 subtracted from the formula? It’s clearly stated that Nmin does not include the condenser and reboiler. Others calculated it as -1 followed by another -1 – I’m not sure where they got that from. For this Fenske equation, how exactly should one calculate the minimum number of theoretical plates required for exams?
It is recommended to re*derive the Finske equation
