I would like to ask what effect reversing the rotation of a high-speed pump during its cranking process will have on the pump Thank you
The cranking speed is very low, so it generally has no impact. However, the structure of some devices varies; some devices may prohibit reverse rotation, such as those with a unidirectional dry gas seal, which definitely cannot be rotated in the opposite direction.
Some pumps have a reverse function, but it won’t work when reversed; it doesn’t matter for the others, I guess
It may affect the main oil pump; reversing the crankshaft will block the inlet and outlet of the oil pump, and this will result in no oil pressure when the auxiliary oil pump is started.
