Everyone, in order to improve the level of automation of the equipment, our company has been calling for an increase in the degree of automatic control of these devices recently. Automatic control is labor-saving, but there is one issue: when a fault occurs, it is necessary to determine whether stable adjustment can still be maintained. If not, how can automatic control be disabled smoothly so that adjustments can be made after restoring balance? Additionally, when the instruments fail, it may cause fluctuations in the device, and this can only be detected manually.
The automatic control rate of our company’s continuous reforming unit generally reaches over 98% under normal operating conditions. The level of automation depends to a large extent on the instruments.

The control rate is primarily aimed at ensuring stable production; however, some companies now regard the control rate as a standard, believing that a high control rate means better operation. Theoretically, a high level of automation can reduce human error, but as everyone knows, once there is a problem with the instruments, the automation system will trigger interlock reactions, resulting in significant fluctuations in certain parameters; therefore, each unit requires an experienced operator to monitor it. Personally, I think it’s important to focus on stable production; there’s no need to take risks in order to achieve a high level of control, unless the company has advanced instrumentation that allows all the cascade control loops to be adjusted very smoothly
Automatic control has its advantages, but excessive use of it can lead to laziness among operators, resulting in chaos in the event of an accident. Personally, I think it’s still usable; for things like liquid level and pressure, automatic control is preferable, while for things such as the heating temperature of the furnace, manual control is better.
The purpose of improving self-control is to reduce human errors, save on labor costs, enhance product quality, increase the yield of the equipment, and maximize the company’s profits as well as ensure the safety of the equipment and personnel. However, everything has two sides: when done well, it brings positive benefits, but if not done properly, it can result in losses. Therefore, it is necessary to strike a good balance among various factors, with safety, high quality, and efficiency being the ultimate goals.
