The coagulation-sedimentation treatment process includes two stages: coagulation and flocculation. During the coagulation stage, the colloidal double layer in water is compressed and loses its stability, resulting in the formation of smaller particles. In the flocculation stage, these particles aggregate with one another (or with the help of the adsorption and bridging effect of polymer substances) to form larger floc particles, which can be separated from the water under appropriate sedimentation conditions. Compared with other technologies, the advantage of coagulation technology is its simple equipment, ease of implementation and operation/maintenance, suitability for batch processing, and good treatment efficiency ； Its disadvantages are high operating costs and a large amount of sludge generation.
