I currently work at a small factory that specializes in the further processing of tetrahydrocarbons; working in the control room there is quite comfortable. Now I have applied for a job at a large methanol plant that operates in the coal chemical industry. People are asking me whether I should take this job or not. Which field offers better prospects for career development – further processing of tetrahydrocarbons or methanol production from coal? The salary at the methanol plant seems to be slightly better than what I have now
In-depth processing of C4 compounds generally has greater prospects than coal-based methanol production

Isn’t olefins the most profitable option for coal-to-methanol production these days? Why isn’t it good?
Avoid simply using coal to produce methanol – it’s already unprofitable. However, converting methanol into oil, or using it for MTO processes to produce olefins, are still profitable options.
Well, it’s coal-based olefins; all of them use the DMTO process
