There are no specific requirements for this; it is a consumable item that needs to be checked and replenished on a regular basis. In principle, it doesn’t need to be replaced specifically unless you remove the sand from it.

Additionally, during regular inspections, additional pearl sand was added as it settled at the bottom of the cold boxes.
