Dear catalyst experts, have you encountered situations where debris such as fragments of catalyst bags remain inside the catalyst tank, causing issues with the small dosing line and preventing fresh catalyst from being introduced into the system? Does anyone have any good methods to prevent debris such as catalyst bag fragments from falling into the catalyst tank when adding agents to it using a dosing hopper?
It’s very simple – just install a wire mesh at the bottom of the additive hopper.
Add a sieve and clean it regularly.
Yeah, add a filter screen, but it should be a bit denser; it’s best if it can filter out the ropes used to tie the bags as well
Generally, additive inlets have filters (or filtering devices), right? Don’t you have one? Our system is equipped with filtration, but the inlet of the small automatic feeder still gets clogged from time to time, preventing feeding. In such cases, it’s usually sufficient to use air to clean the feed pipeline
Such a simple problem shouldn’t occur. Moreover, when constructing the devices, filters are always installed at the location where the catalyst is placed. Additionally, nowadays catalysts are supplied in large bags of 700 KG each; there are no more fragments or ropes involved, as everything is integrated together, which makes things much more convenient.
I often disassemble small feeding valves, and the weirdest time was when I found a blade inside one of them. Even with a protective mesh in place, it’s still not possible to prevent debris from getting into the new agent tank
Is your small feeding pipeline very thin? Ours here is DN50, and blockages rarely occur
There are two methods: one is to install a filter screen when adding the additive to the small tank, and the other is to place a filter screen after the additive valve. However, we no longer use either of these methods nowadays
How could there be fragments? The catalysts we use all come in tons of bags. Don’t let the operator use a knife to cut it; the bag is still useful. Just use a sieve
