I would like to ask if anyone is aware of any standard guidelines regarding the application of ammonia penetration testing and helium penetration testing – under what circumstances should ammonia penetration testing be used, and when is helium penetration testing appropriate? Thank you! Our company used to rely on ammonia penetration testing, but it is now gradually being replaced by helium penetration testing. I’m not sure whether this is the right approach

Helium leak detection has higher sensitivity than ammonia, but it requires specialized equipment and is more costly. It needs to be determined based on the design requirements of the container.
It’s likely that ammonia is now subject to stricter regulations, while helium mass spectrometry detection is relatively safer~~
Helium penetrant testing offers high precision, but it is also costly; moreover, the ammonia used in ammonia penetrant testing can be harmful to human health.
