What does a mixed-phase bed reactor mean, which is often mentioned in the context of etherification units? Are there any other types of reactors? Are there any differences?
I don’t understand it either; in my personal view, the material enters from the bottom, disturbing the catalyst and causing it to float, which enables thorough mixing of the catalyst with the reaction medium
Is it the expanded bed that is fed from the lower part of the reactor, and the mixed-phase bed that is fed from the upper part? In our company, the feed for etherification is introduced at the bottom of the etherification reactor and exits from the top. I’m not sure whether it’s better to feed the reactor from the top or from the bottom; please give me some advice.
