I’m used to operating based on the pressure at the bottom of the tower, but in some units the pressure gauge is located in the feed section, and the pressure difference from the top of the tower is very small. Wouldn’t it be better to have a pressure gauge at the bottom of the tower?
This is a matter of accumulating experience. For many so-called top temperatures, some are measured at the tower top itself, while others are taken at the point where the outlet pipeline from the tower top leads down to the ground; these values represent the pressure of the gas phase after condensation and liquid separation.
What are you going to do by checking the pressure at the bottom of the tower? Determine the liquid level?
It can be installed in the gas phase space at the bottom of the tower.
Actually, the difference isn’t significant. If it’s installed at the bottom of the tower, the pressure there will be higher than that in the feed section; the additional pressure comes mainly from the liquid level at the bottom of the tower. If you observe it for a while longer and get used to it, it will seem pretty much the same
The reference pressure gauge for the operation of our company’s distillation tower is located in the reflux tank, reflecting the pressure at approximately the top of the tower! That’s enough to operate it
Did you not check the pressure drop at the top and bottom of the tower? What’s the point of looking at this? We have pressure gauges in the superheating section of the atmospheric pressure tower!
So, what are the pressures at the top of the tower and in the vaporization section? What is the pressure difference?
