I currently have a container made of 12Cr2Mo1R with a diameter of 40 mm. After welding, hydrogen removal treatment is required at a temperature of 250–350°C, with a holding time of 2–6 hours. Could those who are more experienced please confirm whether this is accurate? Also, does hydrogen removal treatment need to be applied to all the main welds as well? Including nozzles of ≥250mm
The purpose of post-weld hydrogen removal is to allow hydrogen in the weld to escape fully within a certain holding temperature range, thereby preventing hydrogen-induced cracks. Whether post-weld dehydrogenation treatment is necessary is determined by the material. After welding 12Cr2Mo1R material, hydrogen removal treatment must be carried out.

For materials such as 12Cr2Mo1R, 14Cr1MoR, and 15CrMoR, hydrogen removal treatment must be carried out immediately after welding to allow the hydrogen in the weld to escape fully, thereby preventing hydrogen-induced cracks. The weld area is covered with insulating material for slow cooling, and non-destructive testing can only be performed after 24 hours. Takeover is the same~:D:D
The insulation time is 3-4 hours, as specified by the standards.
