Our system operates under negative pressure, and we use a turbine combined with a screw compressor to create a vacuum. I’m a recent graduate and don’t quite understand this; isn’t a screw compressor meant for compressing gases? Can it also be used for creating a vacuum? I really don’t know anything about this yet – please help me out

Screw pumps and screw compressors are, in essence, positive-displacement pumps that can create a vacuum. It can also be used as a self-priming pump.
