Recently, the internationally renowned company specializing in industrial and infrastructure water purification technologies, Aquatech, signed a contract with Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shenhua Group (hereinafter referred to as Shenhua Ningmei), to supply its zero liquid discharge technology (ZLD) for one of the company’s ongoing coal-to-oil projects. It is understood that the total investment for this coal-to-oil project is estimated at 55 billion yuan, with an annual production capacity of 4.052 million tons of synthetic oil products; it is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2016. The ZLD system provided by Aquatech can treat 55,000 tons of wastewater per day for this project; once treated into high-purity water, this water can be reused within the system. Shenhua Ningmei has chosen Aquatech to be responsible for the design, manufacturing, and supply of the ZLD system for this project; in addition, Aquatech will also oversee the installation and commissioning of the entire system. It is reported that Aquatech will provide the aforementioned coal-to-oil project with an integrated and automated system developed by the company specifically for entering the coal conversion market. The system employs water treatment technologies that represent the highest standards of Aquatech, including conventional ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis units, high-efficiency reverse osmosis systems, and falling film evaporators that do not require seeding; ultimately, a crystallizer is used to achieve zero discharge. In addition, Aquatech can also provide a delivery system to return the treated high-purity water to the system for reuse. Tom Tseng, General Manager of Aquatech for the Chinese market, believes that the company was able to secure this order thanks to its strong track record in wastewater treatment. Guanghui and Beijing Xinyuan Guoneng signed a cooperation agreement for the coal clean processing and wastewater treatment project. On September 18, Guanghui Energy and Beijing Xinyuan Guoneng signed such an agreement in Urumqi. As a follow-up environmental protection project to the 10 million tons per year coal upgrading and comprehensive utilization carbonization plant developed and constructed by Guanghui Energy, Beijing Xinyuan Guoneng ultimately won the unanimous technical approval of Guanghui Energy and was awarded the general contract for this project. The project adopts the BT investment and operation model of \"build‑transfer\". It represents Guanghui Energy’s first breakthrough in the coal chemical industry, as it involves the implementation of the world’s largest full-process wastewater treatment facility to date. It is also an important achievement in terms of technology and environmental protection, contributing to the establishment of a first-class coal chemical demonstration base in the Hami region and across the country.
