If normalization is used, calibration is not necessary. If it is aimed at one or several specific components, it is best to use an external standard method with a concentration similar to that of the sample components. If the response ratio of the component under measurement to a component that is not present in the sample remains constant, an internal standard can be added to the sample and the internal standard method can be used for correction. If mature analysis methods and detectors are used, along with reliable response factors available for reference, the response factor method can be applied directly.
