What does it mean to connect a branch line in front of the inlet valve and behind the outlet valve of the centrifugal pump in a liquefied gas processing plant?
I know about this thing and understand it, but I don’t know how to explain it theoretically. Could some expert please explain?
I’m not very familiar with it. I’ve seen before that it’s a pressure balance valve used for adjusting the flow rate nearby and preventing excessive backpressure; the inlet and outlet valves are difficult to replace in such devices
I checked some information and found that it’s called a “anti-coagulation line”; in other words, when this pump is in standby mode, the valve (gate valve) of this auxiliary line is opened. Enable the material to flow, thereby preventing it from solidifying and ensuring that the standby pump can be started. But I asked the technicians today, and they said that if the amount of material needed is very small, there’s no need to start the pump; the system’s pressure difference or static pressure can be used to transport the material. I think both make sense; if the material tends to clot, then making it flow will prevent it from clotting, right?
