I heard by chance that for registered engineers, the age requirement is met, but what’s needed then? In the field of instrumentation, there’s plenty of time available. What do they mean by work experience requirements? For example, fire engineers are required to have 6 years of work experience – does that really mean 6 years of actual experience in firefighting, or is it sufficient to have a document from an employer confirming such experience? As for registered electrical engineers, it’s basically impossible to qualify. . . . So what exam is good for a newcomer? . . Seeking advice
Those who register have to take the exam in two parts: first the basic part, and after passing that, the specialized part. You can take the basic part now, while the specialized part will be taken in 5 or 6 years.
Work experience is calculated based on the number of years since graduation; as long as one has the required educational qualification and sufficient years of experience (the number of years depends on the major, and if the major does not match, more time is required), it’s generally possible to start applying!
