Measurement principle: The electrical properties of oil-water mixtures (two-phase liquids) are measured; the dielectric constant of water (68–80) is very different from that of pure oil (2.5). In cases with a low water content (oil-in-water configuration), phase (capacitance) changes are significant, while in cases with a high water content (water-in-oil configuration), amplitude (impedance) changes are notable. At the signal reception end of the instrument, these changes in phase (capacitance) and amplitude (impedance) are detected, and by using phase-sensitive and amplitude-based models along with temperature compensation, the percentage of water content can be determined, enabling accurate and stable measurement over the full range (0-100%) of water content in oil. The accuracy of the new type of aqueous gauge is not affected by factors such as medium viscosity, density, temperature, and pressure.
