The Rockets have a weak defense; without Howard guarding the paint, their defense would be even worse. Offensively, Magic’s center is better than Howard, but his defense is inferior to Howard’s. If there’s a possibility of a trade, then it comes down to making the right choices. Although Howard can no longer be considered a top-tier center, his athletic abilities are still quite good among tall players. He lacks offensive options and relies mostly on layups; it would be good to pair him with a forward who has a good passing range and can create space for shots. The combination of Capela and Howard is more reliable than that of Jones and Howard. It was a good move to trade Jones in exchange for Morris
