Our company has newly installed a sulfur production unit, and the sulfur production furnace features a design without a flame shield. Could someone please explain what the specific function of such a flame shield is? What are the effects of its presence or absence on the combustion of acidic gases, as well as on the temperature of the waste boiler and areas downstream of it? Thank you~~~~~~~
A sulfur production furnace is not necessary; in fact, we haven’t had any such furnaces for the four batches of sulfur we’ve produced since 1988. The flower wall is designed to enhance the recollision of various components in the reaction stream, prevent flow deviation, and thus achieve a better theoretical reaction equilibrium. The only sulfur production furnace I’ve seen with a flower-patterned wall seems to have been designed by someone from Luoyang Institute; it’s likely that Luoyang Institute has sent many people abroad for inspections related to desulfurization and sulfur production.

We have patterned walls designed by Hoefeng Company, which are primarily intended to create laminar flow and ensure a more uniform mixing and reaction of acidic gases.
A partition wall is not necessary when ammonia is not burned, but it is required when ammonia is burned; its main function is to improve mixing inside the furnace.
