Process Engineer & Procurement Engineer Selection

I have worked as a process engineer for about 7 years; I have worked in both state-owned and foreign companies. Recently, I’ve been looking for someone to talk to about wanting to give up working in manufacturing – after all, I have to spend several months on-site every year, and driving as a design representative seems somewhat dangerous. It’s about finding a balance between family and career. So I had a talk and wanted to switch to a procurement engineer. I would like to ask my friends from engineering companies: do you think my idea is feasible? Our management generally supports my idea, but they hinted that there is a certain difference in salaries between procurement engineers and process engineers (not necessarily the case in every company). Those who are aware of this situation, please share your thoughts. Thank you all!~~~
Young people, I think it’s better to focus on technology first and build a solid foundation; it’s also okay to move towards procurement later on.
As for the craft, you have to learn a lot; it’s quite demanding, and sometimes it can be very stressful. But the advantage is that it’s easier to learn the skills involved, and it’s simpler to get started. Once you have those skills, you don’t have to worry about market conditions, and it’s also easy to switch to other positions... Procurement, for example, offers good profits and is relatively easy. But the downside is that there are no other positions to transfer to after making the switch, and once you leave the job, your value can drop by several levels quite easily.
