Why passivate? What is the role of passivation?
It forms a protective layer on the inner surface of the reaction system, thereby reducing corrosion that occurs during the reaction process
Do all hydrogenation units need to be passivated when put into operation?
Passivation is primarily intended to prevent the catalyst from having too high reactivity right after sulfidation, thereby avoiding the formation of carbon deposits due to excessive temperatures. For safe operation, oils of better quality such as startup diesel are used for passivation.
What is the equation for the passivation reaction?
