Generally, a steam drum is equipped with one remote level gauge, two local level gauges, and several level gauges with interlocks. 1. Compare remote data with on-site data, while simultaneously checking the amounts of water supplied and gas produced as well as any changes in wastewater discharge. 2. When a problem is detected with the level gauge, the on-site reading is generally taken as the reference, and the instrumentation staff should be notified promptly to deal with the remote transmission level gauge ; 3. If a large discrepancy is found between the readings of the two on-site level gauges, refer to the remote-level gauge and isolate the gauge with the larger discrepancy for cleaning. 4. If several level gauges are found to be unreliable, it is necessary to use the level gauges equipped with interlocks for operation, and the problematic gauges should be addressed as soon as possible. Generally, there are 4 interlock level gauges in the steam drum: 3 low-level gauges (using a 2-out-of-3 logic for interlocking) located in the lower half of the drum, where the liquid level is usually at full capacity; if these gauges show a reading, it means the level has dropped too low, and more water needs to be added. There is also 1 high-level gauge (for alarm purposes); its reading usually indicates either no liquid present or a low liquid level. If this gauge shows a reading, it means the liquid level in the drum is too high, and less water needs to be added.
