On January 31, news from the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology stated that with the completion of Shenhua Group’s 600,000-ton per year olefin production project in Yushen, Shaanxi’s total capacity for coal-based olefin production will reach 3.1 million tons, making it the largest province in China in terms of coal-based olefin production. “During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Shaanxi Province built 4 large-scale coal-to-olefins projects and 10 coal-to-oil projects in fields such as modern coal chemical industry and fine chemical industry. To date, two large-scale modern chemical industry clusters worth hundreds of billions have been established in Yushen and Yuheng. It is expected that by 2020, 11 modern coal chemical projects will be built, processing 50 million tons of coal and generating an economic output of around 100 billion yuan.
