Our sulfur production fans are equipped with a standard gate-type check valve at the outlet; during operation, there is a constant clicking noise. If this valve is not used, there is a risk of acidic gases flowing back, which could pose a threat to personnel safety. Dear sea friends, what model of check valve do you use? Is there such a snapping noise? Can it be cut out if not needed?
Where can I find gate-type check valves? This requires ensuring a minimum flow rate so that the check valve does not flicker.
It is a vertical check valve of model H42H; we commonly refer to it as a gate one-way valve. I’m sorry, but can butterfly or diaphragm check valves be used at the outlet of the sulfur production fan?
1. H42 is a flange-connected, vertical (vertical lift-type) check valve; the force required to open it seems to be quite high. Using H44, a swing-type one should be better. 2. There need be no check valves on the air duct; when the fan loses power, the flow is stopped by a interlocked switch valve.

Is what the poster is referring to a one-way valve similar to a tongue-shaped valve? Rotary-type valves have a greater pressure drop, but fan outlets are generally equipped with butterfly one-way valves; these valves consist of two separate plates, are lightweight, result in a lower pressure drop, and are suitable for installation at fan outlets. The check valves of H42 and H44 are generally used for the liquid-phase conditions at the pump outlet. 2. We also had a check valve at that time, but it was removed later as it wasn’t needed. . . Trouble
