Safety measures for the **furan distillation process

Our company has started distilling **furan**. Since this solvent tends to form peroxides when exposed to oxygen and light, and because peroxides are unstable and can easily catch fire on their own, this can lead to the combustion of the solvent within the equipment and subsequent explosions. Therefore, the safety issues related to this entire setup need to be addressed urgently. The current measures involve using nitrogen for nitrogen sealing of all storage tanks and distillation columns; ferrous salts are added to the feed before it enters the distillation column to react with any oxidized substances, and heating and distillation are carried out only after verification that everything is in order.
