What is the opening pressure of a 1.6MPa swing check valve? Can a pressure difference of a few Kpa or a dozen Kpa open the valve disc?
I saw some people say that a few Kpa is simply not enough to lift the valve disc. But in our case, roughly 10 KPa is sufficient to open the valve disc; however, for some reason these past few days the check valve’s disc won’t open, and we’re trying to figure out why
Swing check valves are generally installed horizontally. Its operating pressure does not need to be very high; it is sufficient as long as the outlet is slightly higher than the inlet. Vertical installation requires a certain pressure difference, generally one that is greater than the weight of the valve disc.
It is necessary to clarify what type of check valve and what the back pressure will be; check valves without springs are definitely different from those with springs. Without backpressure and without a spring, the valve should be able to open. As mentioned by the owner, it won’t start; check whether it’s due to the medium, as there may be an issue with the valve plate getting stuck.
