The light naphtha upgrading project at Yangzi Petrochemical was put into operation. Recently, the project for upgrading light naphtha using Yangzi Petrochemical’s No. 2 hydrocracking unit was brought online. Since March, about 15 tons per hour of light naphtha from this unit has been used in the production of blended gasoline, opening up a new channel for the company to increase its gasoline output and enhancing the added value of its products. The light naphtha upgrading project was an important initiative aimed at improving profitability at Yangzi Petrochemical in 2016. Through technical upgrades, it became possible to use the light naphtha from Unit 2 hydrogen cracker directly in the production of gasoline, thereby increasing gasoline output and boosting profits. Since the end of last year, Yangzi Petrochemical has conducted multiple feasibility studies on this project and developed detailed renovation plans. During the renovation, they constructed a light naphtha cross-line pipeline and made clever use of the excess capacity of the liquefied gas desulfurization tank to feed light naphtha into this tank for desulfurization, thereby bringing the technical parameters of the light naphtha up to the standards required for gasoline blending. This allowed light naphtha to be successfully used as a blending component in the production of gasoline. This renovation plan eliminates the investment required for building a desulfurization tank, saving both renovation costs and the construction timeline. During the renovation process, Yangzi Aromatics Plant maintained strict quality control and advanced work swiftly, completing the project renovation in just half a month. Based on current market prices, this project can generate annual benefits of over 60 million yuan for Yangzi Subsidiary, thereby increasing the added value of its products.
