If dehydration is carried out using solid alkali NaOH, what is the water absorption amount, and what is the equivalent water capacity? Does anyone who knows know? Thanks
Solid alkali dehydration is not taken into account when calculating the water absorption rate; generally, it is sufficient as long as the product meets the required moisture content range. Also, replace the solid alkali based on the condition of the waste liquid in your solid alkali dryer. This is also related to the moisture content of the raw materials fed into the solid alkali dryer; generally, if the cooling and dehydration process is not effective, the consumption of solid alkali will definitely be high.
So how is the amount of solid alkali to be used calculated? For example, if the water content at the inlet is 200 ppm and it needs to be reduced to 50 ppm at the outlet, with a feed rate of XXX kg/h, it’s only by considering the operation cycle and the water volume that the amount of solid alkali required can be determined. Otherwise, how can the amount to be used be calculated?
After absorbing water, solid alkali turns into liquid alkali with a water content of 40–55%, and it is discharged once it becomes fluid.
There are design data regarding the loading capacity of the solid-alkali dryer, and there are also requirements regarding the loading height, which must not be higher than that of the liquid-phase outlet pipe. For the specific details, please refer to your company’s equipment installation drawings. The alkali concentration of the liquid at the solid-alkali dryer has not been analyzed, but the alkali concentration in the waste-alkali tank has been measured. You can then calculate how often waste alkali needs to be discharged, estimate the volume per discharge, and determine its density, and that will give you the answer. Based on the information from the 5th floor, it’s possible to estimate the approximate consumption amount. Based on an alkali concentration of 40% in the liquid discharged from the solid-alkali dryer, the amount of solid alkali consumed = vinyl chloride liquid * (200ppm – 50ppm) / 60% * 40%
