For the instruments used in the gasification furnace, should the explosion-proof rating be intrinsically safe or flameproof?

Intrinsic safety, also known as intrinsically safe type, can be used in Zone 0, such as in enclosed spaces. Sparks may be generated there, but their energy is not sufficient to ignite explosive gases in Zone 0; therefore, a safety barrier and intrinsic safety cables are required to limit the output current. Of course, it can also be used in Zones 1 and 2. 2. The flameproof type achieves isolation by strengthening the sealing of the instrument’s enclosure, thus keeping it completely separated from explosive gases; even if an explosion occurs inside the instrument, it will not trigger an explosion in the explosive gases outside the instrument. Explosion-proof instruments can be used without a safety barrier, or they can be equipped with one. If a safety barrier is used, it is necessary to consult the supplier of such barriers to ensure that the current output remains sufficient to power the instruments on site; ordinary cables are sufficient for explosion-proof instruments. Available everywhere except Zone 0. 3. An individual instrument of the intrinsically safe type is certainly cheaper, but when safety barriers and intrinsically safe cables are taken into account, its cost may exceed that of an explosion-proof instrument. If an explosion-proof instrument also needs a safety barrier for dual protection, then that’s a different matter. Prices aren’t fixed either; a toilet can cost anywhere from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands. The points mentioned above are for reference only.
